To explain that last, if the Earth climate system has its “thermostat” set for temperature T then if additional CO2 tried to produce a temperature T + delta T, it might be that clouds or other mechanisms might reduce the actual temperature rise so that it’s less than it would be based simply on the known physical properties of CO2.
